New CBSL Governor and Treasury Secretary appointed

President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has appointed new Central Bank Governor and Secretary to the Finance Minister, the President Media Division said.

Accordingly, Dr Nandala Weerasinghe has been appointed as the new CBSL Governor while K.M.M Siriwardana has been appointed as the Secretary to the Ministry of Finance.

In the last few days, the rupee is again being manipulated by the CBSL, as can be seen from the exchange rates. It is impossible for the rupee to rise against all currencies. The free floating was withdrawn again. This will not help the rupee but, on the contrary, will further damage it. Gas stations, service providers and shops will soon only accept dollars or euros. This will divide the country. There will be violent riots and looting.
