Colombo, May 14 (Daily Mirror) - Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) MP Namal Rajapaksa today welcomed the government’s move in summoning the Canadian High Commissioner to the Foreign Ministry to express its objection over Canada’s false genocide allegations during Sri Lanka’s war against the LTTE and the Canadian government’s move in unveiling a Tamil Genocide monument.
He said in a post on X, "We hope the Government will stand by its decision to protect the Sri Lankan military - our heroes who sacrificed their lives to protect the country from terrorism and who ensure that terrorism can never raise its head here again."
"I again want to reiterate that I wholeheartedly want to protect the Tamil community and want to see a better life for its youth, in the same manner I want to see all other communities prosper in peace.
"The Sri Lankan military legitimately wiped out the LTTE after it even murdered its own people and countries such as Canada should not accept false genocide narratives for their own political gains," he further said.
