Colombo, Feb. 3 (Daily Mirror) - Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) National Organiser and Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa left the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) a short while ago after recording a statement for more than four hours.

MP Rajapaksa had arrived at the CID earlier today in response to a summons to provide a statement regarding his alleged connections with underworld figure ‘Kehelbaddara Padme’. Police sources said he had been previously summoned to appear before the CID but had requested a new date as he was overseas at the time, following which today’s summons was issued.

Aruni I quote from yours, "numerous corruption allegations" unquote, You people make this general statement but to date have failed to highlight them in detail and caused the government to be questioned in Parliament. I am no supporter of NPP and I did not vote for any candidate. But I see this government has done better than the past governments. Its a damn farce. What can the CID record in a statement in 4 hours?? The preamble takes more than 4 hours or more.

What is so auspicious about this 4 hour limit in questioning those summoned to the CID.. Should this questioning so public ? Has the CID no authority to enter into the household of any person accused of a criminal act and have the preliminary questioning done without making this a public drama ?What we need is detection of crime and appropriate action not drama and fan fare .
