NTC begins data collection to regulate transport services

Colombo, Oct. 30 (Daily Mirror) - The National Transport Commission (NTC) has launched a data collection programme to regulate transport services, including three-wheelers, school transport, office transport, taxis, and special services, NTC Director General Commander (Rtd) Dr. Nilan Miranda said.

Speaking to the media, Dr. Miranda said stickers will be displayed at Divisional Secretariats, District Secretariats, NTC offices, three-wheeler and school van parks, and fuel stations. Leaflets will also be distributed in these areas to inform drivers and assistants about the programme.

He said drivers and assistants involved in the mentioned services are requested to submit their details using a QR code or Google form. The data collection will take place from November 1 to 30.

Dr. Miranda added that the collected data will be used to develop new regulations, guidelines, and fair pricing structures for the sector.

Meanwhile, NTC Chairman Eng. P.A. Chandrapala said the initiative aims to improve services for passengers, vehicle owners, and operators without causing inconvenience to any party.
