A leopard does not change its spots. We remember their excesses over past decades only too well. A pack of power hungry wolves in sheep's clothing. Weren't some of their leaders in the frontline to overrun parliament by violence by inciting general protesters? Wouldn't that be sufficient testimony to suggest that their spots have not changed after all the years.

    johan Monday, 01 January 2024 10:49 PM

NPP should be given a period of five years and see what type of transformation they can do for SL Politics and Economy. Because SLPP/SLFP and UNP has brought SL to bankrupt and finally they are making each individual as bankrupt by charging exorbitant taxes like VAT 18%, Payee Tax,Property Tax etc.etc

Revamp Needed Urgently Monday, 01 January 2024 10:51 PM

Current lot of politicians are not performing

    Jude Tuesday, 02 January 2024 12:42 AM

Hey Hiran, look at Sinn Fein, in the 70s 80s and 90s they were reballious bombings in throughout UK Now they're in mainstream politics in Northern Ireland!! Leopard and spots my azz, only hope for Sri Lankans is NPP, period.

    Ama Tuesday, 02 January 2024 01:23 AM

Does it mean SPOTLESS R family is good?

    lion Tuesday, 02 January 2024 05:06 AM

We have studied them for well over 34 years and the spot you mention on the leopards have faded away. They have proved to the nation that they are un corrupt and only law abiding political movement of this country. In the aragalaya fiasco every phottu speaker in the parliament tried their best to pin the blame on JVP for all those burning and arson but they failed miserably. It was proved even the burning of Ranils house was the work of some others. So get rid of your mind prejudicial against JVP and like thousands and thousands people join the JVP to build this nation.

    Citizen Tuesday, 02 January 2024 01:18 PM

So you mean to say, it is ok to feed the wolves knowingly they are stealing your sheep's? What an idiot you are. No wonder people like you the reason for mother Lanka in this bankrupt state. Think from your brain not from you a..

    Observer Monday, 01 January 2024 09:58 PM

NPP is another පුස්වෙඩිල්ල that took part to form every govt in the recent past. They're not saints at all even though beating their own trumphet.

    johan Monday, 01 January 2024 10:52 PM

What we need is they give economic relief to poor masses. They should be somewhat better than the present set of crooks in Cabinet and Parliament

    Citizen Tuesday, 02 January 2024 01:24 PM

Without giving a change to NPP how can you judge, knowingly the present are corrupt to the teeth. We have nothing to lose as we have already lost all by voting these good for nothing corrupt parties. It is stupidity to expect these ruling parties to do better when they have failed to do past 30 years.

Nihon Sudda Monday, 01 January 2024 10:14 PM

Victory to NPP means victory to common people!

    SLEx Monday, 01 January 2024 11:15 PM

Victory to NPP means the downfall of our country and any sort of progress. They have no policies that would bring us to the same amount of development as any of our neighbouring countries in the region. They have yet to speak about any digitisation as they do not understand it. And digitisation is the key to reducing corruption and massive economic progress.

    Senpera Tuesday, 02 January 2024 01:47 AM

Victory for NPP means defeat and not only lines for fuel, but rationing of rice for the next decade for the common people.

    tokka Tuesday, 02 January 2024 05:34 AM

Common people have been stupid all these years. why will they be smart now?

    Gihan Tuesday, 02 January 2024 08:15 AM

Don't get too excited. You may recall the LSSP, CP, SLFP alliance in 1970 that took the country in a leftist path and brought the country to a near desperate economic situation. The common man was the worst affected at the end. It was foolishness when they started to give free handouts and it ended with basic essentials being rationed due to scarcity due to a economic mess. So much for leftist solutions.

    Jude Monday, 01 January 2024 10:33 PM

NPP the target has to be More than 5 million votes to win presidential and general Elections, yeah!!

    Susan Monday, 01 January 2024 10:45 PM

We don’t have no choice after two main political parties who ruled the this lovely country taking in a path towards bankruptcy and proved are no love to country or people but selfish greedy pack of wolves, so we decided NPP is the only choice, but like to know how they are expecting to handle IMF and what they are going to do with bad debt of billions which was borrowed by lackeys of previous governments, how to sort out with rajapaksha loot ect.

    Reset Monday, 01 January 2024 10:46 PM

    Give them chance

    Jayantha Monday, 01 January 2024 10:53 PM

We need a new bunch with experience in various fields. Specially an experienced tech guy should become the president not these kinds of jokers who were in parliament for several decades and was actively part of previous regimes. Not much difference between jvp,cmc and slmc. All three supported main two political parties and presidential candidates. Did the biggest mistake by making MR the president.

    LK Tuesday, 02 January 2024 01:10 AM

This time they are better organized than any time in the past. This time women's role is more than men's role .. Why is it? it is the kitchen department that suffered the most in recent time economic. that is why they are coming out. it is like same 1977 when Srima encountered the election. people can take anything but their hanger.

Poor citizen Tuesday, 02 January 2024 01:43 AM

All fart no shit party! Talks lovely but no plans except trade union actions creating chaos everywhere. Country will be dragged from “Kabalen Lipata”

    Ram Tuesday, 02 January 2024 04:07 AM

JVP had a questionable past. Many from the present lot unlikely to have been involved. Just because Dad is bad we don't write off the children. Let's give them a chance. Others have made false promises many times and have ruined the country

    Satah W Tuesday, 02 January 2024 04:49 AM

NPP is the only hope for people for better or worse at this moment.

    Nimal Tuesday, 02 January 2024 05:21 AM

Whatever it is all others are 'lihala balapu malu','obala balanna oney nehey' there won't be much change if they come to power. They will not cease corruption, mismanagement or nepotism. People should give NPP a chance.

    Dee Tuesday, 02 January 2024 05:27 AM

Yes. Get details of all the wealth of people. Then you can mobilize your ‘common people’ to forcefully take over and then give it to the ‘common man’ . Good economic reform. At least don’t destroy public property this time around! Those belong to all the people including your ‘common people’ !

wickrama wijayasiri Tuesday, 02 January 2024 06:59 AM

The stench of Wijeweera will drag you down. How could one forget the killings bearing the JVP brand? Leopards do not change their spots? Another bunch of opportunists waiting with empty bags to fill?

    Cherath Tuesday, 02 January 2024 08:14 AM

Hiran - You are simply trumpeting over the empty accusations to throw mud at the NPP. IF...the JVP was involved inciting protesters to overrun the parliament (AND was even behind the torching of some 70 residences of govt. MPs, as they allege), why wouldn't the government with all its might enforce legal action to round up the culprits and propose proscribing that 'unpatriotic' JVP/NPP? The truth is the SLPP

    VJ Tuesday, 02 January 2024 08:51 AM

The 225 in the parliament is a sample of the 22 million population of this country. By taking a different sample from the 22m will still be the same.

    Leo Tuesday, 02 January 2024 09:03 AM

    JVP

Humble Citizen Tuesday, 02 January 2024 09:37 AM

NPP or JVP all the same. They too think people can be deceived by their various gimmicks. Pol Pot also used similar tactics in Cambodia. But NPP or JVP should know that the voters understand that "the leopard cannot change its spots".

Lasa perera Tuesday, 02 January 2024 03:15 PM

NPP is the last hope. Give them a chance at least for 5 years. We have enough enough experience about UNP/SLFP/SLPP who have already governed the country and who were the main culprits.

    Neo Tuesday, 02 January 2024 05:43 PM

NPP should be given a chance only to prove that leftist economics and liberal social policies doesn't work hand in hand. What we need is a nationalist agenda like BJP in India. But people need to feel it first. I'm voting for NPP this time.

    Democrat Wednesday, 03 January 2024 06:30 AM

well said,I have never involved in politics actively but this time i will campaign what ever the way I can to bring NPP to power We should give them a chance to govern this country for 1805 days( 5 years) and to continue if they will do well.

Ranil and MR Tuesday, 02 January 2024 06:58 PM

If you want to cry for next 5 years, pls vote for us.
