Colombo, April 24 (Daily Mirror)- The National People's Power (NPP) today requested Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) leader Sajith Premadasa to propose a date convenient to him if he is unable to participate in any of the four days proposed by the NPP for the public debate between the two leaders.
NPP General Secretary Tilvin Silva told a news conference that the NPP proposed four days assuming that Sajith Premadasa would be busy and give him an opportunity to select any of the four days convenient to him.
"We proposed four dates, assuming that Sajith may be busy. Anura Kumara is also a busy person engaged in a tight schedule. We proposed four dates considering the importance of the debate. If the Sajith faction is claiming that this debate is so importatnt, they can choose any one of the four dates. If he is unable to make it on any of the four dates, we request him to propose a date convenient to him," he said.
Silva said Sajith Premadasa is attempting to evade the debate and added that he will not participate in the debate.
"He is only trying to find ways to evade the debate instead of trying face it," he added.

We dont see ajb trying to avoid any debates but it looks like you guys are trying to hide and run away from debate between economic comittees of both parties. Jvp is a bunch of jokers with zero experience in any industry and just talkers. These morons said a hole is in uma oya project and now it is completed successfully. Think about the damage these talkers done to the country. They have mislead the people similar to other major parties. By the way tintin should reveal how he lives without doing a job or business.

This alone shows the difference between two. AkD is highly skilled debater and he mastered the arts of politics.. No doubt about it. With his science background he is a good political leader to debate any Lankan political issue . To be honest he a national intellectual and political asset . You may disagree with his politics but we all must appreciate his talents and skills . He excels all in our country in his knowledge; skills and talent. Will people appreciate it .

Original proposal from SJB was for a debate with the economic team. JVP/NPP now wants only a debate between the leaders. SJB now wants debates on both, leaders debate and the economic team debate. Who is running scared of whom?

Yes. Economic Council debate is paramount and must be held first to follow the leaders' debate unless held together. JVP / NPP want to skip the economic council debate by being dumb and deaf after suggesting dates, unilaterally. What a way.

Anura should debate both SJB and the UNP. If the latter parties think that they have excelled in meeting challenges over the 75 yrs think again. If the JVP has info to hand and examples having no experience could be a god sent. The jails are going to be full of so called experienced leaders of people so JVP can pick and choose and would be social well performed, far cry from hard Labour

@Noel silva; In fact, the UNP is not necessary as they rule the country after a mandate of 133 MPs and tax the ordinary people while ignoring their wealthy friends who are in debt to the government of about 900 billion Rupees of tax. So, what to debate.
