Murder suspect shot dead by police in Hanwella
A suspect who was wanted in a recent murder in Hanwella, died in a shootout with the police early this morning.
Police said the suspect identified as "Karavitha Siya" was wanted in connection with the incident of killing the owner of a shop at Hanwella on December 18, 2022.
The Western Province (South) Crimes Division which probed the incident received information that the suspect was staying at Diddeniya in Hanwella.
The 32-year-old suspect, a resident of Dellawa opened fire at the police when they attempted to arrest the suspect.
The suspect was injured in return fire by police and has died after being admitted to the Avissawella Hospital. (DSB)
