Measures are underway to protect the marine environment if the MV X-Press Pearl ship sinks, Marine Environment Protection Authority (MEPA) Chairperson Dharshani Lahandapura said.

She told the Daily Mirror that no information was received from the Navy about the sinking of the ship.

However, the Navy said MV X-Press Pearl ship has started to sink this morning. (CS)

There is nothing "IF" about it, the ship is bound to Sink. Thank India for dousing the fire but after that you guys are dumb on what needs to be done immediately next. Good that Chinese are taking over this country to control specially those 69% idiots.

The Sri Lankan authorities did not want the sicken ship towed out to International water as it may hinder compensation payments. That is why the ship stay put. Now the ship is sinking and now they are struggling to tow it out.
