Man killed, nine injured in head-on collision

A man was killed and nine others injured when two buses collided head-on at Kajugama on the Kandy-Colombo main road last night, Police said.

They said a staff service bus had collided head-on with a CTB bus plying from Kattankudy to Colombo when it was trying to overtake another vehicle.

Four women and five men who were injured were admitted to the Wathupitiwala and Warakapola Hospitals and the driver of the private bus succumbed to his injuries.

The deceased is a 44-year-old resident of Kaburadeniya, Danowita.

The driver of the CTB bus was arrested in connection with the accident.

Investigate whose fault. If the driver of the SLTB bus is the culprit he shud be arrested immediately n sentenced to jail atleast fir 2 yrs n his driving license should be cancelled for 5 yrs.
