Kurunegala, Dec.4 (Daily Mirror) - An individual who attempted to take nude photos of his 14-year-old daughter to be shared on the internet to earn money had been hacked to death by his wife.

The deceased Suranga Pradeep Kumara (37) of Thalvita was from the Wellawa Police area in the Kurunegala District and was an attendant of Kurunegala Teaching Hospital. He was the father of a 14-year-old daughter and an eight-year-old son.

Investigations revealed that he had opened a YouTube channel and that he had been collecting nude photos of young women to popularise it.

His wife had thrown chilli powder in his eyes when he came out of the bathroom and hacked him to death.

She told police that his husband had attempted at times to take their only daughter's nude photos for the channel and that she prevented it, leading to family disputes and assaults on her.

Investigations revealed that he had locked out her and her son and taken the daughter behind closed doors and attempted to take her nude photos. His wife had however entered the house, thrown chilli powder in his eyes, assaulted him with a sword and saved her daughter from the scandal. The victim had died on the spot.

The suspect woman, a garment worker, was taken into custody by the Wellawa Police.

OIC Wellawa Police CI Ajith Kumara is conducting further investigations on the instructions of SSP Upul Chandana Abeysinghe and Senior DIG North-Western Province Kithsiri Jayalath.

    Gemunu Tuesday, 05 December 2023 06:36 AM

When are the people like you going to take responsibility for your stupid and vulgar acts? Politicians can stop every stupid act done by morons.

So bad now sri lanka by one some storage stories are coming up ...this mother took a right decision to save her daughter. How does our judges read it ? How does our legal system deal with this uniquely rare incident? Do you feel any sympathy for this mom or daughter?/or do you think what she has done is right thing ? Do you think she shouldn't have taken the laws into her hand ?/instead she must told the police or any one else to deal with this man ? What about police ?will they take prosecute this man if he was not killed? What about our politics? Will politicians use their power this kind of crook man? So many legal questions and legal interpretation come out of this case .. law college should set a legal Q on this case

Rip Winkle Monday, 04 December 2023 09:56 PM

An act of colosally despicable proportions but was it poverty that forced this man to stoop to such low depths? If this is the case, it is our politicians who should be blamed.

Venus Vinayagaratnam Tuesday, 05 December 2023 03:25 PM

Politicians do worst things, so they don't see this act as violence.

Mother was right. The lazy man wanted to pimp his helpless vulnerable child. Man had skills to launch a YouTube channel, has a camera, phone and pay for internet, electricity to do all that. But he was too lazy to do a honest job and protect his family. Poverty does not drive people to pimp out their child; perverts do. The man deserved what he got. The wife should be released and given the mother of the year award.

This mother should be legally protected. But not sure in such a lawless state

mother's duty to protect her daughter from criminals in this vulgar society and she should be protected and spared from her fundamental right to act thus

    ROHINI Tuesday, 05 December 2023 01:53 AM

Bravo The mother prevented the father abusing the child.Had the mother waited for legal authorities ,it would have been too late

Andrew Silva Tuesday, 05 December 2023 03:32 AM

Judge will have to look at all angles in this case. The wife was enraged by her husbands actions. I don’t think any one would blame her, he was only interested in making money by his daughters nude photographs. Which is unthinkable in our country.

    Ram Tuesday, 05 December 2023 04:09 AM

Her act is pardonable morally but not legally. She must receive the lowest possible sentence on entering a guilty plea

    Lalitha Tuesday, 05 December 2023 01:40 PM

Elect her to Parliament... Make her woman and child welfare minister.. She will do a better job than our moron politicians

    Waco Tuesday, 05 December 2023 04:25 AM

Mother should be rewarded for her action.

    DP Tuesday, 05 December 2023 05:06 AM

Her story remains too good to be true...

Moh Sleiman Tuesday, 05 December 2023 05:43 AM

The MOTHER did the right thing, she should have killed that dog slowly,Hope the Judge will make the correct decision, and spare that woman,or some other PARAYA will take that child.

The depths this country has sunk to. All thanks to our rulers for the poverty and despair

Are we traveling too fast? Tuesday, 05 December 2023 06:57 AM

Where has the country failed to protect its citizens? Is it complete break down of moral values? Religious values or simply break down of civility? It is definitely not influence of drugs. If that is the case, then the story might be different.

    roobarbie Tuesday, 05 December 2023 07:13 AM

Morally the mother was right. In Sri Lanka there is no law and order. The politicians are corrupt. They either manipulate the law enforcement agencies, or bend the law themselves. The gangsters bribe the police. The mother could have reported her husband to the police, but the chances of getting a satisfactory outcome to protect the daughter was slim. The mother reacted to the provocation of the beastly man, and she did it to protect her daughter, because if she did not act at the very moment, the daughter's life would have been ruined irreversibly. Free the mother, now!

Something isn't adding up. Youtube doesn't allow adult content

    jaya Tuesday, 05 December 2023 11:43 AM

Youtube allows nude to age verified users. But no graphic nudity. You are right about this not being the full story.

    Cherath Tuesday, 05 December 2023 07:45 AM

What's happened is symbolic of the state and times Sri Lanka is in. Please do not drag in innuendos like poverty, deprived upbringing etc. 99 % of men do not resort to pimp their child of 14 for money. Moreover, this man was employed as an attendant as was his wife. It's the terribly sick mindset of this man is in question - the result of uncurtailed, frightening thought process driven by hunger for 'money by any means necessary'. The lethargic policing attitude and snail pace prosecuting process has a lot to do. Father, mother and daughter are all victims.

Yasmin Jaldin Tuesday, 05 December 2023 08:52 AM

Well done good mother. GROBR. What a dirty father. His dead body should be sliced like fish and thrown into the sea.

Taking a life is not good, by individuals or by the state. I know that there could not have been any time to think in this situation. Castration would have been a better punishment as he would have to live that way until he dies!

    BuffaloaCitizen Tuesday, 05 December 2023 09:50 AM

This happens in a country where the Law is rabid and manipulated. In a country where Law and Order works, this mother could have reported this to the Police and this husband would have been taken into custody and sentenced for a very long time without bail and then before his release sent for rehabilitation and further not allowed to meet the family members for his life time. But that does not happen in Sri Lanka, because in this monkey country this husband would have bribed the Police and manipulated the evidence including threatening his family members.

Indian culture reflected in many a way after Indians intruded on Sri Lankan soil, keep away Indians right now, it is high time to act fast before going into more irreparable cultural ruins. Cut ties with Indian bilateral relations by repaying their loan.

In court of law she might have done wrong thing. But by her early action she has saved many patients and her own children after getting worst beating from him as reported. Children needs the loving mother ASAP with the help from both the law and country one day ASAP,

    sl Tuesday, 05 December 2023 01:39 PM

This case is highly fishy! Please don't judge the victim based on the mother's statement alone. This woman can tell anything after killing her husband. It needs a thorough investigation. Maybe the children's statements and the digital history of the father help in this case.

True Lankan Tuesday, 05 December 2023 01:46 PM

most of the harassments happens from a close relatives or the one inside the family, Here she is a great mom did the right thing to protect her daughter not just the daughter but also many women patients from a maniac but thorough investigations needed in this regard.

This man may be a Myna or Johnny supporter as they have no fear of the law. However, SL has no Law and Order at all - All thieves, Kappamas, Pagamen, rapists and culprits are ministers and acquitted by the system! However, this mother must be Garland for the brave act!

    S. Samarakoon Tuesday, 05 December 2023 03:28 PM

Her stance must be "self defense" to protect a child and not pre-meditated murder or man slaughter. If she faced the man...and struck frontwards and not from behind.... self defense beyond doubt may be proved..

    Concerned Tuesday, 05 December 2023 03:49 PM

    Sudden provocation from the mother.
