Malaysian arrested at BIA with Rs. 250M cocaine stock

Colombo, Nov. 24 (Daily Mirror) - A foreign national was arrested while attempting to smuggle cocaine worth Rs. 250 million at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) last night.

The suspect, a 25-year-old Malaysian national, had arrived in Sri Lanka at 8:20 p.m. on Etihad Airways flight EY-396 from Abu Dhabi.

Customs officers found 5 kilograms of cocaine concealed in cans labeled as chocolate, hidden inside the suspect’s hand luggage.

The drugs had been carefully packed to avoid detection but were discovered during a thorough inspection at the arrival terminal.

The suspect and the seized cocaine are to be handed over to the Narcotics Division of the Katunayake Airport Police for further investigation.
