MP Vithana declines budget-allocated cab

Colombo, Nov. 16 (Daily Mirror) - MP Jagath Vithana has informed the government that he will not accept the cab allocated to him under the 2026 Budget proposal, which includes importing vehicles for all Members of Parliament.

In an official letter, Vithana requested that authorities refrain from importing the vehicle assigned to him, stressing that only 1,774 cabs should be brought down if his decision is respected.

He warned that importing 1,775 vehicles despite his refusal would amount to a “serious injustice to taxpayers.”

Excellent. All opposition members should say no to luxury cabs. This government is heading in a dangerous path and they may end up in a worst situation than Gotas government. At least gota managed to escape to Maldives but things will not be that easy with lies and betryal of policies by current regime.

MP Vithana, the vehicle is not for you. It is for the position you are holding. If you do not want to use it, it is fine and thank you. But the Government has to proceed with its plan with a long term view. I am surprised your lack of understanding of the Government role.
