Colombo, Feb. 9 (Daily Mirror) - National Organizer and MP of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna, Namal Rajapaksa, has urged the government to address the demands of doctors and other professionals, stressing that public welfare should take priority over luxury expenditures.
Speaking to journalists regarding Basil Rajapaksa’s return to the country, Namal Rajapaksa criticized the government for providing vehicles to officials on loan while neglecting the needs of patients in state hospitals. He said it is shameful that equipment belonging to the tri-forces and police is showcased for loans, yet spending on luxury vehicles is not questioned. He called on the government to redirect such funds to improve healthcare facilities and respond to the reasonable requests of medical professionals, noting that ordinary citizens continue to suffer in public hospitals.
Rajapaksa also highlighted the party’s ongoing grassroots strengthening, stating that new members, including skilled youth, are joining and contributing to practical solutions for citizens’ problems. He emphasized that all political decisions will be made in accordance with election outcomes and that the party remains focused on addressing the needs of the people rather than making hasty decisions about future elections.
