Colombo, Sep.22 (Daily Mirror) - A mobile service organized by the Labour Ministry to provide services offered by its institutions will be held at district and sub-district labour offices across the island from today (22) until September 26.
The program will allow private and semi-public sector employees to check their Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) account details and balances, correct member information according to their National Identity Card, register as members, lodge complaints, and seek advice on labour laws.
Those accessing services are requested to bring their National Identity Card, the B Card (if already registered with the EPF), and for amendments, an employer’s letter.
The inauguration ceremony of the mobile service is scheduled to take place today at the Jaffna District Labour Office under the patronage of Deputy Labour Minister Mahinda Jayasinghe.
In line with the launch, several special programs will also be held in Jaffna. These include a job fair at the Jaffna District Secretariat organized by the Department of Manpower and Employment Protection, a medical clinic conducted by the Shrama Vasana Fund for selected employees from factories and institutions, and an awareness program on eliminating child labour to mark World Children’s Day at Jaffna Vaideeshwaran College.
Additionally, the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health has organized a program at the Jaffna Technical College to promote safe work practices and the prevention of occupational accidents and diseases in the Jaffna–Palai area.
