Kalpitiya OIC interdicted over sexual assault on police woman



Kalpitiya, Feb 15 (Daily Mirror) -  The Officer-in-Charge (OIC) of the Kalpitiya Police Station who was charged over sexually assaulting a female police constable, has been interdicted by the National Police Commission with immediate effect.

The Kuliyapitiya Division Senior Superintendent of Police launched an investigation after the alleged incident and subsequently reported the matter to courts. 

Police said the OIC surrendered to the Puttalam Magistrate's Court on February 13 over the allegations and was granted bail.

The OIC, an inspector, represented by a lawyer, appeared before the Magistrate and was granted bail on a bond of Rs. 500,000 and ordered to report to the Kuliyapitiya SSP's office on the last Sunday of every month until the case's next hearing on March 6.

The Inspector was interdicted following a probe by the Police Department.
