Colombo, Oct. 23 (Daily Mirror) - A single national curriculum for all preschools across Sri Lanka will be implemented from 2027, Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education Dr. Harini Amarasuriya announced yesterday (22).
Speaking at a meeting of the Parliamentary Subcommittee on Education Reforms held in Parliament, she said the Early Childhood Curriculum Framework has been finalised, and a training programme for nearly 19,000 preschool teachers will begin on November 25. The training sessions will be conducted in every province, ensuring uniformity in early childhood education standards.
Dr. Amarasuriya also reaffirmed that no schools will be closed, noting that the government’s policy is to consolidate and strengthen existing schools to improve quality and ensure equal learning opportunities for all children.
The meeting was attended by Members of Parliament, Education Ministry Secretary Nalaka Kaluwewa, officials from the National Institute of Education, and senior Ministry representatives.
