United National Front (UNF) presidential candidate Sajith Premadasa told the media soon after he was nominated as the party's presidential nominee that he was likely to contest the election under the 'swan' symbol.

Meanwhile, UNP General Secretary Akila Viraj Kariaywasam told the media that Mr. Premadasa would contest under a different symbol as he represented the UNF.

Mr. Akila Viraj Kariyawasam, Where is your huge rally that you informed UNP supporters that you will announce in which the name of the UNP presidential candidate.(Minister Sajith Premadasa) Please keep in mind that people of this country had already selected Mr. Sajith Premadasa as the UNF candidate,although you guys were vacillating all this time to come out with the name.
