Hulftsdorp bookfest begins at Sri Lanka Law college



Colombo, Feb. 17 (Daily Mirror) - The ‘Hulftsdorp Bookfest’, organised by the Sri Lanka Law Students’ Sinhala Union, commenced today (17) at the Main Hall of Sri Lanka Law College, Hulftsdorp. The four-day event will continue on February 18, 19, and 20.

The inauguration ceremony was held this morning with former Minister of Justice and President’s Counsel Dr. Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe attending as the Chief Guest. Addressing the gathering, he said programmes of this nature play an important role in cultivating a reading habit among law students.

Dr. Rajapakshe further noted that in the present context, where the scope of the legal profession has significantly expanded, enhancing knowledge provides opportunities for individuals to reach the highest levels within the field.

Several leading publishing institutions are participating in the exhibition, including M.D. Gunasena, Lake House Publications, the Bar Association of Colombo, Dayawansa Jayakody & Company, and Grantha.

Publications authored by prominent legal figures such as Professor G.L. Peiris, President’s Counsel Kalinga Indrathissa, President’s Counsel Jayampathy Wickramaratne, President’s Counsel K.N. Choksy, President’s Counsel Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe, and President’s Counsel Sarath Jayamanne are also available for purchase at the exhibition.
