Colombo, Nov. 14 (Daily Mirror) - A hotel employee has been arrested by the Fort Police after a Dutch tourist reported the theft of foreign currency from her wallet.
The incident took place on 11 November 2025, when the tourist, staying with another guest in a hotel room within the Colombo Fort Police Division, discovered that Dirhams and Euros worth around Rs. 330,000 had gone missing. The complaint was formally filed on 13 November.
Following a swift investigation by the Tourist Police, a 41-year-old hotel employee from Kandana was arrested. He admitted to taking the money while the guests were out and transferring it through a financial institution in Ja-Ela.
The suspect to produced before the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court today.
