Heavy showers forecast for next 36 hours



Colombo, March 13 (Daily Mirror) - The Meteorology Department has issued a general weather forecast for the next 36 hours, warning of potentially heavy rainfall and thundershowers in several parts of the country.

Tonight: Showers or thundershowers will affect Western, Sabaragamuwa, and Northwestern provinces, as well as the districts of Galle, Matara, Kandy, and Nuwara-Eliya. Some areas in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces, along with Galle and Matara districts, could see heavy rainfall exceeding 50 mm.

Tomorrow: Afternoon showers are expected in Sabaragamuwa, Central, and Uva provinces, and in Galle and Matara districts. A few isolated showers may occur in Eastern province, Polonnaruwa, and Hambantota districts, while the rest of the island will experience mainly fair weather. Misty conditions are also likely in parts of Central, Sabaragamuwa, and Uva provinces, as well as Galle and Matara districts during the early morning.

The public is advised to exercise caution against strong localized winds and lightning during thundershowers.
