Colombo, March 14 (Daily Mirror) - The Meteorology Department has forecast showers and thundershowers in several parts of the country during the next 36 hours, with fairly heavy rainfall expected in some areas.
According to the weather forecast issued at 4.00 p.m. today (14), showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, North-Western and Uva provinces, as well as in the Galle, Matara, Mannar and Anuradhapura districts after 2.00 p.m.
The department warned that fairly heavy showers exceeding 50 mm may occur at some locations in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts.
Meanwhile, a few showers are also expected in the Eastern Province and in the Polonnaruwa district.
Misty conditions are likely in parts of the Central, Sabaragamuwa and Uva provinces, as well as in the Galle and Matara districts during the early hours of the morning.
The Department has urged the public to take adequate precautions to minimize damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
