The trade union action launched by 18 trade unions attached to the health sector has been temporarily called off after nine days.
Accordingly, the strike will be called off from 8.00 am tomorrow (16).
However, Ravi Kumudesh, President of Federation of Health Professionals said the strike was called off temporarily for two weeks until they will be assured of President's intervention to resolve the issues.
He said Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella has been distorting discussed matters before media, which dragged the issue for so long.
"We don't hesitate to get on with the strike at any point, if the President fails to provide us with concrete solutions to our grievances," he added.
The Govt. Nursing Officers' Association, which is one of 18 trade unions earlier decided to temporarily call off TU action over the weekend due to the enjoining order issued by the Colombo District Court recently.
The Government health workers resorted to an indefinite trade union action from 7.00 am on Monday (7) over the government's failure to address seven of their demands. (Sheain Fernandopulle_
