Colombo, Jan. 29 (Daily Mirror) - Plans underway to enhance the quality of early childhood education across the country ahead of the 2027 rollout of the National Policy on Preschool Education, Women and Child Affairs Minister Saroja Savitri Paulraj said.
Speaking at a discussion on early childhood care and development in Ratnapura District today (29), Minister said the government’s commitment to physically improving early childhood centers, standardizing preschool teacher services, and ensuring higher-quality education for young children.
During the meeting, the Minister provided a detailed explanation of the National Curriculum Framework for Early Childhood Development, outlining the steps to strengthen the sector.
In a special session, preschool teachers and early childhood officers were invited to share their challenges and propose solutions to improve services. Participants highlighted existing difficulties in service delivery and offered recommendations to enhance the quality of care and education in early childhood centers.
Minister Paulraj assured that the feedback would be carefully considered as part of the ongoing efforts to modernize and elevate early childhood education standards nationwide.
