Parliament, Feb. 20 (Daily Mirror)- State Minister of Finance Ranjith Siyambalapitiya today informed Parliament that the imports of vehicles will be continued.

"We have appointed a committee to look into how we could restrict the vehicles and to determine how many vehicles we need," the State Minister said.

"Sri Lanka has imported only 29 vehicles during the recent past, including 21 double cabs for the Ministry of Health and three ramps for SriLankan Airlines. These ramps are used for airlines," he said.

Why don't you fools allow the import of any kind of vehicle if it's paid for from a foreign account? The country would earn a lot in foreign exchange if the import duty and VAT had to be paid in dollars.

What nonsense. There are many luxury electric vehicles in the market. It says from the foriegn employment permits. These cars are zero milage. Most are close or over 10 million rupees. So don't come saying only a few were imported. Not sure how many the president and cabinet plus VVIPS imported.

The EVs imported under the new permit scheme is doubtful. Too many questions there yet some benefit

There is no forum to talk about this, but can you people scrap 18% VAT on Apartment sales, as purchaser already pays VAT for all materials? Besides the industry is falling down as no one can afford to buy. Also have to pay stamp duty. What the hell? Are you people so dumb? I suppose when looting people, dumbness is not the word.
