Gold prices rise sharply following global spike



Colombo, Nov. 13 (Daily Mirror) - Gold prices in Sri Lanka have recorded a sharp increase, mirroring a significant surge in the global market where prices crossed US$ 4,212 per ounce today.

Local traders said the price of gold in Sri Lanka rose by around Rs. 10,000 within a day.

Accordingly, the price of a 22-carat gold sovereign in the Colombo Pettah market climbed to Rs. 310,800, up from Rs. 301,500 yesterday (12).

Similarly, the price of a 24-carat gold sovereign increased to Rs. 336,000 today, compared to Rs. 326,000 on Tuesday, reflecting the global upward trend.
