Parliament, Feb. 21 (Daily Mirror) Opposition MP Udaya Gammanpila today presented to Parliament a private member's bill, the 22nd Ammendment to the Constitution through which he seeks to take away the police powers of the Provincial Councils.
He seeks to remove the police powers from the list of powers vested with the Provincial Councils under the 13th Amendment to the Constitution.

No body has power to present or remove any bills because this is only an interim government and parliament, till govt. finds money to hold election at any given time.Interim Govt. period is only six months as per constitution.Our Govt. is molding constitution according to its whims and fancies

He wants to keep the police under central government control so that they could keep the Tamils under their jack boots? Don't worry very soon India will send their police to give protection to the people in North and East then your so called bill will be a worthless piece of paper.

@AjayK: That's should be the decision of the people in a referendum and not from these corrupt politician. Further, UK has separate police force different areas and so we can too. You don’t want only Tamil speaking police men in Matara, do you? But you can see only Sinhala speaking cops in North. Sort that out first and then talk about having on force!!
