Flight to Chennai takes off

The Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) announced the takeoff its  first flight to Chennai a short while ago after some of the flights were suspended because of the Cyclone ‘Vardah’.

The BIA Duty Manager the SriLankan airlines flight UL129 was scheduled to leave for Chennai at 7.20 a.m. but finally left at 11.26 a.m. 

“The flight took off after we received clearance from the Chennai International Airport,” he said adding that five flights were scheduled to leave for Chennai today.
