Colombo, Nov. 13 (Daily Mirror) - A Fundamental Rights petition filed seeking an order directing authorities to conduct an investigation into the compensation payments made for damages caused to properties during the illegal attacks and violence carried out by groups of wrongdoers on May 9, 2022, was today fixed for January 28 by the Supreme Court.
When the matter was taken up before a three-judge bench of the Supreme Court comprising Justices Janak de Silva, Sobhitha Rajakaruna and Menaka Wijesundera, court was informed that several respondents had not yet received the notices.
Accordingly, the application was re-fixed for January 28 to ascertain the progress of serving notices on the respondents.
Attorney-at-Law Dr. Ravindranath Dabare filed this petition naming former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, former Defence Secretary, General (Rtd) Kamal Gunaratne, General (Rtd) Shavendra Silva, former Minister of Public Security Tiran Allas and several others as respondents.
