Is it vindictiveness to arrest an arsonist? What of your house with all your belongings burnt down. Ask the many who lost all due to arson in 1983. Some organised groups used voter lists to target houses.

That is because of the politics practised in Sri Lanka. Another example is 1983 riots during JR's time.

He can argue that he was the agent of karmic retribution for RWs uncle JR burning of the Jaffna library and its historical ola manuscripts. Many of the surviving manuscripts are those acquired and taken during British rule and housed in the British foreign ministry library

There are so many Tamil houses and businesses that were burnt down in 1983 riots by Sinhalese, will the same happen to catch the culprits of at least one house?

Before the house was set on fire Ranil had removed his cloths and books. He may get a good amount to rebuild his house.
