Colombo, Oct. 29 (Daily Mirror) - A comprehensive digital transformation initiative is set to enhance Pirivena education, following key decisions made at the 204th Pirivena Education Board meeting chaired by Prime Minister and Education Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya.
The focus of the discussion was on equipping Pirivenas with modern learning infrastructure, including internet access and smart classroom facilities, to ensure that students studying in these institutions benefit equally from national education reforms. Plans are also underway to provide advanced training for teachers and staff to support the digital shift.
The Minister highlighted the importance of creating opportunities for Pirivena students who excel academically and culturally, noting the need for a structured mechanism to evaluate and retain such talent within the traditional Buddhist education system, while guiding them to meet contemporary educational standards.
Senior clergy including Venerable Narampanawe Ananda Anunayake Thero, leading Mahanayake Theros, and top officials from the Ministry of Education took part in the discussion, reinforcing the collaborative approach to future development in the Pirivena sector.
