Decision to fill fuel in tanks will be made once supply returns to normal

After the country's fuel scarcity returns to normalcy, decision will be taken to filling of fuel in cans, Power Minister Gamini Lokuge said.

Addressing the media, he said people used to fill several cans after fuelling their vehicles. Therefore, fuel that is sufficient to fill the vehicle tanks at fuelling stations are running out quickly and creating a shortage.

There was information that some people are selling fuel cans for Rs. 5,000 and it has become a business. At least one bowser load of fuel was supplied to each CPC fuel station across the country yesterday.
