Colombo, Dec 16 (Daily Mirror) - The newly appointed selection committee of Sri Lanka Cricket led by Upul Tharanga, reportedly decided to change the leadership roles for the Sri Lanka Test, ODI and T20 teams.
As per reports, Dhananjaya de Silva is slated to take on the role of Test captain, with Kusal Mendis assuming the position of vice-captain.
For the ODI team, Kusal Mendis is set to be the captain, and Charith Asalanka will serve as the vice-captain. In the T20 format, Wanindu Hasaranga is to be appointed as the captain, with Charith Asalanka named as the vice-captain.
The final decisions regarding the Sri Lanka squad for the upcoming Sri Lanka-Zimbabwe tournament in January will be deliberated in the next meeting of the selection committee, scheduled for next Monday.
It is reported that the committee will also make the conclusive decision on the captaincy roles for the respective formats during this crucial meeting.

Sri Lanka is terribly short of talent at prasent under the existing system. Hence even with the new selectors , it will be the same crop of players who will be shuffled around

What SL team lack is motivation!! I hope the team attitude will change. The present bunch of players winning is not the priority. And will tell you that the current SL players lack skills talent and fitness seriously.

Dhananjaya De Silva needs to regain his confidence in stroke play by engaging himself in as many practice matches as possible. His repeated lifting the ball feebly to mid off/mid on indicates this plus mistiming. Continuous practice will help him to get to where he was in 6 months.

First of all Srilankan cricket should be free from the politics. Although whoever is appointed to the selection committee the members of such committee should have the power to take decisions very autonomously. Furthermore the gamblers and rogues from time to time who tarnish the good name of our cricket should be removed from the posts whatever they are holding or bearing.

Continue with Dimuth as red ball captain and Mendis as white ball. Asalanka should be vice captain for both formats and should be groomed as long term all format captain. Successful teams have had one good leader like Cummings, Williamson etc.

What the team needs most is learning to focus on the field by concentration on the task at hand. Their losing focus can be corrected only by mind training by a mental guru. This applies equally to our batters and bowlers.

Before appointing captains select a good team. Appointing a captain who has not captained even a provincial team is an absurd decision. Selection of Dananjaya as TEST Captain is a very bad decision.

Keep out dasun from all format. Kusal has no guts to lead a team. To win u need the guts and brain like cumins. Kusal is not good for that.
