Cyclone Montha will bring gushing winds: Met. Department



Colombo, Oct. 28 (Daily Mirror) - Cyclone Montha is likely to bring in some gushing winds which would go up to 60kmph over the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Southern, Northern, North-Central and North Western provinces during the coming days though the impact of it has reduced.

Deputy Director Department of Meteorology Merril Mendis told media that the impact caused by the cyclone to Sri Lanka will be reduced gradually during the coming days.

He said the fishing community and the naval forces should keep away from the sea until further notice.

A few showers will occur in the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Kalutara via Colombo during the coming days.

The adverse weather conditions brought about by the cyclone destroyed four lives, and had an impact on 29,709 persons belonging to 7,469 families and damaged 787 houses.
