Container transport charges increased by 20% from tonight

Colombo, March 22 (Daily Mirror) - The Container Transport Owners' Association (CTOA) has decided to increase container transport charges by 20 percent with effect from tonight, citing the recent fuel price hike.

CTOA Chairman Sanath Manjula said that the increase in fuel prices has significantly impacted the import and export container transport sector in the country.

He said that the decision was taken collectively by all associations representing the container transportation sector, and subsequently approved by the CTOA Executive Committee.

The association said it is in the process of informing importers, exporters and clearing institutions about the revised transport charges.
