China pledges full support for Sri Lanka’s post-cyclone recovery



Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, on a brief visit to Sri Lanka this morning (12), has reaffirmed his country’s commitment to supporting Sri Lanka’s reconstruction efforts following Cyclone Ditva. Wang Yi gave assurances of personal intervention to assist in rehabilitating critical infrastructure, including roads, railways, and bridges affected by the disaster.

During the meeting with Minister Vijitha Herath, discussions also covered strengthening bilateral cooperation in trade, investment, development, and tourism. Minister Herath thanked the Chinese government and people for the emergency relief already provided in the cyclone’s aftermath.

Minister Wang Yi expressed confidence that Sri Lanka is on the path to a speedy recovery, promising full Chinese support for rebuilding and development projects in the affected regions.
