Colombo Archbishop Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith has embraced the document containing the views of Ven. Elle Gunawansa with regard to the proposed 20thAmendment to Constitution.

The document which was earlier presented to President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, was presented to the Cardinal last night.

The Thera called on the Cardinal to express his views on the content of the document and after the discussion, the Thera said, “the Cardinal holds the same stance as ours on the 20A”.

“I am happy that the Cardinal was positive on what we have presented to the President,” the Thera said.

When asked whether he was optimistic that the President would meet the Cardinal to discuss the 20th amendment, the Thera said the President had the right to meet and discuss a matter of this nature with a religious leader like Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith. (Sheain Fernandopulle)

May we, people of Sri Lanka, your subordinates, also read the content of the epistle? Because surely it concerns us too. Don't treat us as ignorant dummies. The government should serve the people, not the other way around.

Thero was of the opinion that it should not be rushed. Thats all. Not against it or for it. But Cardinals subordinates and those who report to the Vatican have already expressed their concern with the 20A and said they are not for it, so he cannot come out and show his consent!

The show goes on but the result is already known. The Capo di tutti Capi is given the unlimited power he wants. The men in orange and the churchman sent by God are just supernumeraries.
