Cabinet approves ’’Children of Gaza Fund’’, no ifthar celebrations

Colombo, Feb 26 (Daily Mirror) - The Cabinet has given the green light to President Ranil Wickremesinghe's proposal to establish a "Children of Gaza Fund" aimed at providing aid to victims of violence in Gaza.

As part of this initiative, all Ministries and Government Institutions have been directed to forgo Ifthar celebrations and contribute to the newly created fund. 

The President's Media Division said that the government's donation of US $1 million will be distributed through official UN agencies to aid affected children.

    Magnanimous gesture of the govt. It has to be appreciated on humanitarian grounds. Hope and pray that relief will be brought unto our innocent Sri Lankans too, who despite undergoing several hardships will also concur.
