CEB employees granted 25% salary increase amid restructuring

Colombo, March 8 (Daily Mirror) - All employees of the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) have been granted a 25 percent salary increase as part of the transition to the newly established successor companies under the ongoing restructuring of Sri Lanka’s electricity sector.

The salary adjustment, which will be applied retroactively from January 1, 2025, is aimed at addressing long-standing salary anomalies within the institution while fulfilling key demands raised by employees.

Officials said the decision has resulted in an amicable settlement between all parties involved, easing concerns among workers during the major institutional transition.

The pay revision is expected to help maintain stability within the workforce as the CEB’s operations are transferred to the newly formed companies responsible for electricity generation, transmission, distribution and system operations.

Authorities said that the measure is intended to ensure a motivated and stable workforce as the restructuring process moves forward into its operational phase.
