Colombo, Feb. 26 (Daily Mirror) - The Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka (CAASL) has filled several key positions that had remained vacant for an extended period, strengthening its regulatory and administrative leadership.
Appointment letters were presented on 26 February 2026 at the Chairman’s Office of CAASL under the patronage of Mr. Sunil Jayarathna, Chairman of CAASL, and Capt. Daminda Rambukwella, Director General of Civil Aviation and Chief Executive Officer.
The newly appointed officials assume duties in the positions of Deputy Director General (Flight Safety Regulation), Deputy Director General (Corporate Management), Director (Aviation Security), and Senior Civil Aviation Inspector (Aircraft Operations).
CAASL, the country’s civil aviation regulator operating under the Ministry of Ports and Civil Aviation, stated that the recruitment process was conducted in accordance with the government-approved Scheme of Recruitment (SOR) through a qualified interview panel.
The appointments were made under the guidance of Minister of Ports and Civil Aviation Mr. Anura Karunathilaka, Deputy Minister Eng. Janitha Ruwan Kodituwakku, and Secretary to the Ministry Mr. W. W. S. Mangala.
The authority noted that the filling of these posts is expected to enhance regulatory oversight, aviation safety, and corporate governance within Sri Lanka’s civil aviation sector.
