Colombo, June 17 (Daily Mirror) - Yoshitha Rajapaksa, the second son of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, was arrested by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) this morning (17) after appearing before the commission to provide a statement.
Rajapaksa arrived at the Commission in connection with an ongoing investigation into his recruitment to the Sri Lanka Navy and his subsequent training at the British Royal Naval College. Following questioning by investigators, CIABOC officials placed him under arrest.
He had initially been summoned to appear before the Commission yesterday but informed authorities in writing that he was unable to attend due to a Court of Appeal hearing. As a result, his appearance was rescheduled for this morning.
