Backhoe Saman’s wife further remanded

Colombo, Oct. 9 (Daily Mirror) - Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama today ordered that Shadhika Lakshani, the wife of Backhoe Saman, who is currently in custody, be further remanded till October 23 under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.

The magistrate observed that the suspect was being held in connection with money laundering, based on the available evidence and not on charges of drug trafficking.

He further directed the authorities to submit a progress report on the ongoing investigations into the alleged drug trafficking activities related to the suspect.
