Appoint special select committee to probe international schools: MP

Opposition MP Ajith P. Perera called for the appointment of a special select committee to look into international schools.

"There are some international schools which provide quality services while there are others which are far from accepted standards," the MP told Parliament.

Please do this. Its very important for the future of the children. They don't have the education standard of government schools. Most of the so called international schools are business enterprises and don't have professional teaching staff. Teachers are school leavers without proper training. The school buildings are horrible and don't have proper health and safety system in place. All the schools should monitored by the education department and audit should be carried out on the background of the teaching staff if they qualified to teach.

Today there are more International schools which is only a name bord. I agree with the minister regarding this matter. Some teachers even cannot speak Englich but teachers in an International school.
