Colombo, May 23 (Daily Mirror) - A thirty-one-year-old male, admitted to National Hospital in Colombo for treatment of burn injuries following an accident, died shortly after receiving an antibiotic injection, sources said.
According to the sources, the patient was reportedly administered Cefuroxime upon arrival at Ward No. 17, leading to his sudden demise.
In response to this incident, authorities have temporarily withheld the batch VLL040 of Cefuroxime Injection 750mg Vial (SR: 00101406), manufactured by Opsonin Pharma Limited, Bangladesh, pending further investigations.
However, the hospital and health authorities are conducting a thorough investigation to determine the cause of this severe adverse drug reaction (ADR).
