Anger mounts over Customs delay on BYD vehicle release

Colombo, Nov. 4 (Daily Mirror) - A group of individuals staged a protest in Colombo today (04) demanding the immediate release of BYD vehicles currently detained by Sri Lanka Customs.

The demonstration took place outside the BYD showroom in Colombo, where protesters voiced frustration over prolonged delays in clearing the vehicles, saying it had caused significant inconvenience to customers awaiting delivery.

Protesters urged the authorities, including Sri Lanka Customs, to take swift and fair action to resolve the issue, which has remained unsettled for several months.

Sri Lanka Customs had earlier detained a consignment of BYD vehicles, citing that the manufacturer’s certificate submitted with the imports did not comply with existing procedural requirements.
