Alms giving held in memory of Ella bus accident victims

Colombo, Sept. 11 (Daily Mirror) - An almsgiving ceremony for the Maha Sangha was held yesterday at the 15th kilometre post in Rawanaella, along the Ella–Wellawaya Road, in memory of the 15 passengers who lost their lives in the recent fatal bus accident. The event also sought blessings for the speedy recovery of the injured still undergoing treatment.

The religious programme was jointly organized by government institutions, the business community, and residents of Ella town.

During the ceremony, the Maha Sangha chanted Seth Pirith and invoked blessings for the injured.

Deputy Minister of Tourism Ruwan Ranasinghe, Ella Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman Venura Malinda Disanayake, Ella Traders’ Association President Sunil Premakirthi, Tangalle Traders’ Association President Sudath Rathnakirithi, and a large number of area residents attended the occasion.
