425 women jailed during this year: PM

Colombo, Oct. 8 (Daily Mirror) - Some 425 women have been convicted and sent to jail from January 1 to August 31 this year, Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya told Parliament today. 

She said some 4,686 women are being held under remand custody on suspicion during the given period. 

In addition, some 38 women have also been jailed over various incidents this year.
