30 short distance trains will be off the track from Monday: Minister
The Railways Department has decided to cancel 30 short distance trains with effect from Monday (16).
Addressing the media today, Transport Minister Bandula Gunawardana said the decision was taken due to shortage of railway operational staff.
Accordingly, 18 trains on the main line, 8 trains on the coastal line, 2 on the Puttalam line and another 2 trains on the Kelani Valley line are among those that will be cancelled.
He further pointed out that several morning and afternoon office trains will be among them. (Chaturanga Pradeep Samarawickrama)
