Exciting leg-spin prospect Prabath Jayasuriya has been included in the 15-man ODI squad for the five-match ODI series against South Africa. The series begins on Sunday in Pallekele.

They have also recalled all rounder Shehan Jayasuriya after two years into the national side following an impressive performance for Sri Lanka A against Bangladesh A.

Prabath by a distance the least experience player in the side but the selectors have kept their faith in the 26-year-old after he produced a decent performance against Bangladesh A.

There was no place for Danushka Gunathilaka-- who serves a temporary suspension over  a violation of player code of conduct during the second Test against South Africa. Despite an excellent series in the longer format, Dimuth Karunaratne has not find a place in the ODI squad but has been kept stand-by along with Isuru Udana, Nishan Peiris and Jeffrey Vandersay--who was given a suspended sentence for breaching the player code of conduct. Angelo Mathews who was reinstated captain early this year will lead the side, having missed the Bangladesh series due to a hamstring injury. He played only the first match.

Suranga Lakmal, Kasun Rajitha and Lahiru Kumara will spearhead the seam attack while Akila Dananjaya and Lakshan Sandakan will be Sri Lanka’s top spinners for the five match series.

Meanwhile Sri Lanka Cricket appointed Charith Senanayake as the Manager of the National Team.

His appointment will be in effect from 25th July to 30th September, 2018.

Senanayake will function as the Team Manager of the National Team, up until the conclusion of the Asia Cup, which will be played in September, 2018.
