A 27-year-old Sri Lankan man was among those who died in a stampede at the packed Halloween festivities in the South Korean capital Seoul.

At least 151 people have been crushed to death in a horrific stampede and dozens of others were injured in the melee.

Sri Lanka's Foreign Ministry said that the Sri Lankan who died is a resident of Kandy.

Meanwhile, foreign media reported that 19 foreign nationals were among the dead.

The victims were from Iran, Norway, China and Uzbekistan.

The stampede took place in the nightlife district of Itaewon. What caused the stampede is not clear, nevertheless, witnesses say partygoers were seen packed in the district's narrow streets and they found it difficult to move around.

South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol has declared a period of national mourning following the incident. (DSB)

Halloween festivities are devilish which the celtics in Scotland celebrate the day before All Souls Day and now some other countries also think it is fun by wearing different types of costumes which are ghoulish which invite death and disaster and there is a belief that Spirits return on this day it is best that the public avoid these type of festivals which invites trouble and loss of life

Halloween is a silly demonic celebration. You invite trouble in the spirit by celebrating death, horror and everything that's dark and from the devil. When will people understand? This is made to look like fun but you have been deceived. Condolences to this family. Such an unwanted tragedy so far away from from home.
