Tennis Nationals Kiran topples Jaitra to emerge U-16 champion

Ninth seed Kiran Vairavanathan clinched the Boys’ Under-16 Singles title in the National Tennis Championships when he outclassed fourth seed Jaitra de Saram 6-4, 6-1 in the final played at the SLTA Courts in Green Path yesterday.
Meanwhile, Dinara de Silva and Dulkini Ranasinghe set up a final showdown in the Girls’ Under-12 Singles while winning their respective semi-finals. 


Dinara overcame Arushi Thomas 7-5, 6-2 while Dulkini had the better of Binudi Wijayawardena 7-6 (5), 6-4. 

 

Results:
Boys’ Under-16 Singles (final): Kiran Vairavanathan beat Jaitra de Saram 6-4, 6-1.
Girls’ Under-12 Singles (semi-finals): Dinara de Silva beat Arushi Thomas 7-5, 6-2. Dulkini Ranasinghe beat Binudi Wijayawardena 7-6 (5), 6-4.
